As part of World Heart Day Week, from 22 to 29 September, National Heart Institute is organising a series of initiatives, including expert-led webinars, free health check-ups, School health programe, CPR and Basic Life Support demonstrations, and outreach programmes for marginalised communities in Uttarakhand.
These activities are important because cardiovascular diseases often develop silently and can be prevented or managed through timely screening, greater awareness and healthier lifestyle choices. Free health check-ups will support the early identification of risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, while CPR and BLS demonstrations will equip participants with essential life-saving skills during cardiac emergencies.
Through these initiatives, National Heart Institute aims to make preventive cardiac care and reliable health information more accessible, especially to underserved communities, while encouraging everyone to take informed and responsible steps towards better heart health.
