• Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (ALS) or minimally invasive surgery, is a modern surgical technique performed through small incisions with minimal tissue damage. This technique reduced post-operative pain, fewer complications; shorter hospital stays with reduced risk of infections & quicker recovery time.
Due to improved patient outcomes, advanced laparoscopic surgery has been adopted by various surgical sub-specialties including bariatric procedures, colorectal procedures, and an increasing number of general surgical procedures. This approach is beneficial in reducing post-operative complications such as wound infections and incisional hernias. It is a safe procedure for patients with colon cancer and other digestive disorders.
The surgery is performed in the abdomen or pelvis with laparoscopic instruments, which are smaller than the ones used in traditional surgery. The surgeon performs the procedure with the assistance of a high definition camera. The process takes its name from the laparoscope, a slender tool that has a tiny video camera and light on the end. When a surgeon inserts it through a small cut into the body, he can see what’s happening inside you through the camera.
