He served in the Indian Navy for 30 years as a Surgeon and Vascular Surgeon at various hospitals of the Armed Forces. Following his distinguished military career, he joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital as Chairman of the Department of Vascular Surgery, where he has continued to make significant contributions to the field.

He was awarded the Nao Sena Medal for his exemplary services during the Gujarat Earthquake and the GOC-in-C Western Command Commendation Card for his outstanding work at Army Hospital (R&R).

To further advance his expertise in vascular surgery, he underwent specialized training at three renowned vascular surgery centres in Germany: Katharinen Hospital, Stuttgart, University Hospital Cologne and Evangelical Krankenhaus, Mulheim.

He is a Past President of the Vascular Society of India (2013–2015) and the World Federation of Vascular Societies (WFVS) (2015–2016). He is also a founder member of the Vascular Society of India and has been conferred Honorary Corresponding Membership of the German Vascular Society.

In recognition of his academic and professional contributions, he delivered the prestigious Robert Rutherford Oration at the European Society for Vascular Surgery in Lyon, France, on 21 September 2017, on the topic “Terror Trauma.”

His clinical expertise includes the endovascular management of aortic aneurysms, and he has one of the largest reported series in India of eversion and modified eversion carotid endarterectomy for carotid artery stenosis. With over three decades of experience in teaching and examining Vascular Surgery, he has played an important role in the training and development of vascular surgeons in India.
